COMPANY PROFILE

Chapmans Chartered Accountants is a professional services firm registered with the Zimbabwe Public Accountants and Auditors Board and accordingly licensed to offer accounting, audit, corporate compliance, payroll, tax and advisory services to the public.  Founded in 2003, Chapmans Chartered Accountants has grown organically on the back of our core values of always striving to offer a quality, affordable and personalized service. We achieve this by working in teams that are Partner led.


The firm currently has two partners - Gayle Des Fontaine and Juli-Anne Brandt and a staff compliment of over 65 employees with varying levels of experience and expertise. We continue to capacitate our teams with appropriate resources and skills development and encourage our multi-talented service lines to work closely together and share their experience and expertise. As a result our service delivery remains exceptional.

GAYLE DES FONTAINE

Partner

Gayle continuously stays abreast of the latest developments in key areas that impact on her ability to offer exceptional client service, including keeping abreast of changes in the regulatory environment, accounting profession general business awareness. This enables her to provide informed and relevant advice to the firm’s clients on a broad spectrum of issues. She has become a trusted and loyal advisor to many of her clients.

Gayle has gained extensive experience in all major service areas of the accounting profession through her hands on exposure to a well-diversified client base.  Her experience and expertise covers accounting, tax, external audit, internal audit, due diligence, corporate restructuring and general corporate advisory work.  Her experience has been gained through a wide cross spectrum of industries, business types and sizes from small owner managed businesses to large listed corporations and multinationals.  Extensive exposure has been gained in the mining, agriculture, retail, manufacturing, service industry and construction sectors.

Gayle is a practicing member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant (Zimbabwe) and registered as a Public Accountant and Auditor with the Public Accountants and Auditors Board.
 

Gayle commenced her career in 1993 as an articled clerk. She obtained her Bachelor of Accounting Sciences Degree (UNISA) and the Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Accountancy  (UZ) on a part time basis whilst completing her articles.  She qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte and Touche in 2000 where she held various client facing roles including the management of a large portfolio of farming and mining clients in the Midlands region as well as several substantial national audit clients.  She left Deloitte in 2002 as a Senior Manager to pursue her own interests in the profession which culminated in the establishment of Chapmans Chartered Accountants in 2003, where she has been a Partner since formation.

Juli-Anne believes in the core values of the business, these being client service excellence,  professionalism, integrity,  opportunity for staff development or continued  education and having a happy  work environment. By following these core values she has seen the firm grow into one of the leading mid-tier firms in the area.

Juli-Anne commenced her accounting career in 1995 when she joined the Financial Management Services (FMS) business unit at Deloitte and Touche. In 1998 she was appointed as the manager of the FMS department. Whilst at Deloitte she gained experience through a wide cross-section of businesses in the Midlands area. In 2003 Juli-Anne co-founded Chapmans Chartered Accountants in the Midlands. Juli-Anne’s experience and exposure has been gained in the manufacturing, retail, mining, farming and food and beverage
sectors.


Juli-Anne has vast experience and expertise in accounting, financial advisory, payroll services, taxation services, due diligences and internal controls.


Chapmans current portfolio exposes Juli-Anne to a wide variety of business entities, which include sole traders to listed companies. Juli-Anne has vast experience with setting up tailor made management accounting packages to suit individual entities. Having been exposed to several accounting packages throughout her career, and as such can ensure that businesses choose the right accounting package to suit their business environment.

OUR TEAM

Chapmans Chartered Accountants currently has a staff compliment of 65 employees at varying levels of experience. We make conscious efforts to continually train and develop our staff so that our clients receive quality services and as such, most of our staff members are pursuing relevant professional qualifications such as ACCA or degree courses.

 

In 2016,Chapmans became a registered training office for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe. We believe that our training environment will produce exceptional Chartered Accountants due to our ability to give exposure in all competency areas.

FARAYI MOYO

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Farayi has over nine years’ experience in audit and financial advisory services. She completed her articled traineeship at PKF Chartered Accountants Zimbabwe, after which she joined Chapmans Chartered Accountants in 2017 as a Senior Auditor within the Audit Department where she was promoted to Audit Manager in 2020.

 

Farayi has gained notable experience & IFRS knowledge auditing entities within various industries including retail, manufacturing, not-for-profit, mining, IT, logistics & farming. In addition to external audit, she has been involved in various advisory engagements including financial due diligences & company valuations.

 

In 2022, Farayi took up an opportunity to gain international experience & joined PwC UK in their Cambridge office as Assistant Manager, a client-facing role within the Audit Department. Her portfolio of clients included medium to large-sized entities, including the University of Cambridge as well as international corporates within the tech & manufacturing industries.  Farayi rejoined Chapmans a year later, as an Associate Director. She is involved in all services lines within the firm under the mentorship of the partnership.
